While only 16.2% and 16.5% of workers with claims before and during PBS listing were dispensed pregabalin prior to opioids, this increased to 35.7% of workers with claims after PBS listing. The percentage of workers dispensed pregabalin prior to antidepressants and benzodiazepines was similarly highest in workers with claims after pregabalin was listed on the PBS. Pain medicines were identified using ATC level 2 codes and included medicines for the musculoskeletal and nervous system (see supplementary materials).
